Experts say govt-targeting hacker group APT31 noticed in Russia
MOSCOW, Aug 3 (PRIME) -- Hacker group APT31, interested mainly in the government websites, has attacked Russia, cybersecurity firm Positive Technologies said on Tuesday in a research.
“According to the experts, from January till July of the current year more than a dozen of malicious mailouts inn total were sent globally, and the perpetrators’ traces were found in Mongolia, the U.S., Canada, and Belarus. Now group APT31, notorious for its attacks on the state agencies in different countries, has showed its activity in Russia,” Positive Technologies said.
The group’s new tool was malware exploiting the functions of remote access so that the hackers can control a victim’s computer or network. Phishing is the core method of attacks.
